Herta Packer Silva is a self-taught multimedia artist. In art, the main subjects of women, fashion and ethnicity run throughout most of her work. She is inspired by the places she visits. For the last 8 years she has been using discarted fabric, paper samples, wood and other materials that she acquires from around the city and through her fashion contacts into her art. She also enjoys experimenting with music and photography. By day she works as Art Director for Liz Claiborne.Inc. She also designs and maintains hertaworks.com. Herta was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She came to the United States in 1990 and she currently resides in Brooklyn, NY.
